14/03/2019Vacancy for a Cleaner - St Martin`s Public Hall

A vacancy has arisen for a cleaner for the Public Hall.

The successful candidate will be required to work 8 hours per week.

A job description is available upon request from the Parish Secretary or can be accessed here Cleaning duties-list of tasks.pdf

All enquiries should be addressed to the Parish Secretary or the Connétable.

22/01/2019Increasing litter problem in the Parish

It has come to the attention of the Connétable and Parish officials that there is an increasing amount of litter being discarded in fields and hedges around the Parish.

The litter that has been found includes empty cider cans, empty wine and beer bottles, numerous plastic bottles of varying sizes, coffee cups, cigarette cartons, tissues, crisp packets and sweet wrappers.

It is always disappointing when individuals make inconsiderate decisions to carelessly discard their wrappers, bottles or cans in any location, but especially so in the countryside. Environmental Protection is fully committed to trying to prevent and investigate pollution and events such as fly tipping, however littering constitutes an offence under the Policing of the Roads/Parks and Beaches Regulations and as such is administered by the Police.

The "Love Jersey app/website", allows individuals to report litter and other types of incidents either directly from their mobile phone or via the web site: https://lovejersey.gov.je/reports/home.

The Connétable is concerned about this problem and in liaison with Environmental Protection is committed to tackling the issue.
